During our stay in Chiloquine at the end of August of 2020 we visited several wildlife preserves in the area - Lower Klamath Tule Lake Klamath Marsh and Wood River Wetland. It is located 20 minutes northwest of Chiloquin Oregon.
The Wood River originates from a large spring in Kimball. It flows 18 miles through the Fremont-Winema National Forests Bureau of Land Management land and private property in southern Oregon and drains into Agency Lake. The pristine waters of the Wood River in Oregon start flowing from springs which are fed by underground waters originating below Crater Lake National Park which is located only a short distance to the north.
It flows through forest and farmland with huge trout hiding under every bank or prowling the grassy bends for food. Hood River Oregon is home to some of the Pacific Northwests best wineries hiking fishing and breweries. Its watershed consists of 220 square miles 570 km2 of conifer forest rural pasture land and marsh.
Hood River beckons travelers with the scent of orchard blooms and the promise of adventure on the rushing waters of the Columbia River. It flows 18 miles 29 km through the Fremont-Winema National Forests Bureau of Land Management land and private property in southern Oregon. The Hood River incident involved the removal of sixteen Nisei servicemens names from the county roll of honor in Hood River Oregon by the local American Legion Post 22.
The incident on November 29 1944 was part of a string of anti-Japanese actions taken in an attempt to prevent removed Japanese Americans from returning to the area after. State of Oregon and part of the Klamath Basin drainage. We got basically none.
