Wood Island is Maines second-oldest lighthouse.

Wood Island can be reached by boat only. On September 25 2013 the lighthouse was awarded a Provincial Designated Heritage Place plaque and certificate. The original Wood Island Lighthouse was established in 1808 and consisted of a 45-foot octagonal wooden tower.
