Phil Wood Grease
I took apart the Headset and was shocked at the now gummy mess.
Phil wood grease. Howdy--I have a 1980 honda c70 thats clacking a bit from the points cover--i want to filegaptime it this weekend and would like to grease the felt as well. Used Phil Wood grease Tenacious oil extensively in my cycling days and never forgot how effective they are at lubricating moving parts while successfully preventing dust debris build up. I have white lithium grease motor oil Phil Wood grease dupont silicone grease etc.
Phil Wood grease and oil does not attract gun powder residue as most conventional or even. Our 3 oz tube has a thread on cap for easy removal and resealing. I cleaned the bearings cleaned the races etc and repacked with brand new Phil Wood grease and these things are butter smooth.

Phil Wood and Park grease are both far superior to any White Lithium grease in water resistance.
So I decided to take them apart and repack and re-grease. It is recommended for ball and roller bearings. Its true that the Phil Woods grease is the best available for loose ball bearings.
For better precision when applying grease for our squeeze tubes you can thread on our portable grease gun. Insofar as this is a question about what makes a good substitute for Phil Wood Tenacious Oil when you want such an oil thick gooey extremely high viscosity very high washout resistance good in many kinds of freehubsfreewheels prone to being a total mess on chains if not applied very judiciously but dont have Phil on hand there are a couple options I know of. Phils grease is a standard in the industry used by manufacturers and bike shops all around the world.
And it remains the same pretty green color. But you can save a few by simply buying Marine or Waterproof grease from a boating or moto shop I use Bel-Ray Waterproof myself and it works just as good as the Phil Wood or Park for less IME. Quantity Add to Wish list.
