How To Make Wood Wick Candles

How to make wood wick candles. Step 6 - Pour. The wick tab will hold the wood firmly in place as it sits in the melted wax during the candle-making process. Pry open a metal wick tab and carefully push one end of the treated wood into the opening.
Press the wick into a wick clip by gently rocking the edge of the wick back and forth until the bottom is completely secured in the clip. Make a wick for each candle you are making. This is usually about a half inch below the top of the jar.
Step 6 Slowly pour the wax into the jars. You may want to use some wick stick ums or glue dots to hold your wicks in place. You can also pour that old wax sludge into cardboard egg cartons to make dandy fire starters.
Place a small dot of hot glue in the center of each of the jars to hold the wicks in place. Like a traditional cotton wicks wood wicks do require a little attention before each burn. Then place the wick in the center of the container and press it down firmly.
Depending on your preference you can skip this and place the wick directly into the container after step 7. If the wick is too long the wax will not pull up the wick and the wick will extinguish. We suggest using a drop cloth or an old towel or sheet lying around the house will work fine as well.
Pre-wick your container by taking the paper off the back of the sticker and applying it to the bottom of your wick tab. Use a glue dot or wick sticker tab to adhere to the center base of each amber glass jar. Press the wick clip into the center bottom of each vessel you are making candles with and youre ready to get mixing.
